What are HbA1c and eAG?
The A1c (HbA1c) test is a blood test that estimates your blood sugar levels over the past 2 to 3 months. Instead of looking at day-to-day changes, it gives a longer-term picture of how well your blood glucose has been controlled.
Estimated average glucose (eAG) is a way of translating the A1c result into the same type of numbers people see on a glucose meter (glucometer) or continuous glucose monitor (CGM). But it doesn’t replace finger stick or CGM readings.
Read this article to understand the A1c test better, including when it is done, what can affect your results, and what they mean.
